In Algeria, employment contracts can be oral or written, but it’s best practice to put a strong, written contract in place, in Arabic, which spells out the terms of the employee’s compensation, benefits, and termination requirements.

Working hours in Algeria

Termination/severance in Algeria
A substantial misconduct must occur for an employee’s employment contract to be terminated. Dismissal is allowed only after a disciplinary procedure has been completed. An obligatory process that is determined following collective bargaining applies to redundancy. The local labor administration must be involved in the process. The termination of an employment contract for redundancy may be considered “abusive” if the proper protocol is not followed.
