What statutory benefits must be provided in Latvia via an EOR?

A licensed Latvia EOR administers all mandatory statutory benefits mandated under the Latvian Labor Law through local payroll.

These statutory benefits include:

  • Annual paid leave: Provide a minimum of four calendar weeks (20 working days) of paid vacation per year. Ensure at least one segment lasts two consecutive weeks.

How a Latvia EOR handles income tax and social insurance contributions

A Latvia EOR manages all monthly payroll withholdings, tax filings, and social security remittances electronically through the State Revenue Service (VID) Electronic Declaration System (EDS).

The EOR calculates and applies the following rates:

  • Personal income tax (PIT): Apply a progressive tax system to employment income.

  • Non-taxable personal exemption: Deduct a flat monthly non-taxable minimum of EUR 550 for all qualifying team members. Provide an allowance of EUR 250 per month for each registered dependent.

  • National social insurance contributions (NSIC): Cap standard social contributions at an annual gross salary of EUR 105,300. The EOR withholds the team member contribution of 10.50% at source. It calculates the employer contribution of 23.59% on top of the gross salary.

  • Solidarity tax: Collect a 25% solidarity tax on gross annual earnings above EUR 105,300.
